CEI hopes Belarus’ presidency 2017 will bring EC and EEU closer

CEI hopes Belarus’ presidency 2017 will bring EC and EEU closer

MINSK, 27 October (BelTA) – The Central European Initiative hopes that Belarus’ presidency in the organization in 2017 will bring the EC and the EEU closer, CEI Alternate Secretary General Margot Klestil-Loeffler said when speaking at the international conference Pan-European Integration Processes: Towards a Mutual Vision through Cross-Border Synergies, BelTA has learned.

“In 2017 Belarus will assume the presidency in the Central European Initiative. This will give both the CEI and Belarus new opportunities for cooperation. Belarus’ presidency will also emphasize the importance of the EU Eastern Partnership program and will facilitate contacts with the Eurasian region. I hope we will have good cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Union,” CEI Alternate Secretary General Margot Klestil-Loeffler said.

She noted that the CEI has been a bridge between the various integration groups. “I am looking forward to very close and intensive cooperation between the Central European Initiative and Belarus in 2017,” she added.
