MINSK, 6 February (BelTA) – Belarus should turn into an IT nation by 2025, First Deputy Premier Dmitry Krutoi said at a session of the final board of the Communications and Informatization Ministry on 5 February, BelTA has learned.

“In the mid-term perspective, somewhere by 2025, we should achieve an ambitious goal of building an IT nation. We should achieve tangible and appreciable results that can be demonstrated not only to our society, but also to the international community,” Dmitry Krutoi said.

As an official in charge of the communications and informatization sector, Dmitry Krutoi called efficient and smooth operation of the Digital Economy Development Council one of most important tasks for him. He urged to address a number of tasks. They include the establishment of a legal framework to facilitate development of individual sectors of digital economy.

Reviewing the work of the Communications and Informatization Ministry in 2019, the first deputy premier pointed out that this is the only economic sector that met all the key social and economic tasks. At the same time, he believes that it is necessary to amend the goals sets for the ministry in the next five-year term making a bigger emphasis on its core area of activity.
