MINSK, 28 August (BelTA) – Belarus and Egypt should focus more on implementing investment projects using unique technologies. Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich made the statement as he met with Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry on 28 August, BelTA has learned.

Mikhail Myasnikovich described investments as a promising avenue for advancing cooperation. Mikhail Myasnikovich suggested focusing more attention on implementing projects using unique technologies. Belarus is ready to transfer these technologies and know-how. Apart from that, the head of the upper chamber of the Belarusian parliament believes that Belarus and Egypt should step up interregional cooperation. “I think the number of such contacts could be higher. It is necessary to get new Belarusian and Egyptian regions involved,” he said.

Mikhail Myasnikovich also mentioned a number of other proposals, including the advancement of cooperation in youth affairs and interaction in education. Mikhail Myasnikovich spoke at length about interparliamentary contacts, which, he believes, can be more dynamic, thus contributing to the political dialogue. As a mechanism he suggested active work of the parliamentary friendship groups.

The chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly said he hopes that during his stay in Belarus the Egyptian minister of foreign affairs had been able to see that the Belarusian side sets a high value on cooperation with Egypt. “This visit will be a new page, which will significantly expand friendship horizons of the two countries,” stressed Mikhail Myasnikovich.

In turn, the Egyptian minister of foreign affairs said he was satisfied with the dynamic advancement of the bilateral relations. The more vigorous exchange of visits of various levels testifies to it among other things.

The sides discussed topical aspects of expansion of Belarusian-Egyptian comprehensive interaction, including progress in fulfilling the top-level agreements reached during the Belarus president’s visit to Egypt in January 2017.
