Call for creative attitudes on sidelines of Russian mass media congress in Belarus

MINSK, 12 July (BelTA) – Creation should become the key theme on the sidelines of the 19th World Congress of Russian Press, which is taking place in Belarus, BelTA learned from Belarusian Information Minister Lilia Ananich.

According to the official, Belarus has done a lot to develop national mass media and has no intention of separating itself from the common information space. The information minister pointed out that as early as the first day of the congress representatives of mass media, the general public, and the private sector contacted participants of the congress asking why the mass media talk so little about the most important thing — creation. “May creation become the key theme on the sidelines of our information days in Belarus,” said Lilia Ananich.

The information minister noted that the Russian language and the Belarusian one are equally supported and respected in Belarus.

Lilia Ananich reminded it was the second time the country had welcomed the congress. It is very important for the congress participants to find new friends and partners during their stay here, she said.

The 19th World Congress of Russian Press “Partnership for the future: priorities of modern civilization” will take place in Belarus through 15 July. Representatives of mass media from more than 50 countries are taking part in the event.

Two panel sessions will be held as part of the congress to discuss “Challenges and opportunities: sovereignty, integration, and globalization” and “Mass media in digital revolution conditions”. Both panel sessions are supposed to enable a large-scale discussion of the agenda of pressing interest for the mass media community.

In the next few days participants of the congress will get a chance to feel the ambiance of the art festival Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk. They will get familiar with places of interest in Vitebsk and Polotsk. The social and economic potential of Minsk Oblast will be presented as part of the forum. Tours of the Belarusian automobile engineering company BelAZ and the interactive history park-museum Sula will be arranged.

The 19th World Congress of Russian Press is organized by the World Association of Russian Press, the Belarusian Information Ministry, and the World Russian Press Foundation. Belarus is hosting the congress for the second time. The first time was in 2013.
