MINSK, 5 May (BelTA) – Belarusian MPs should get involved in the effort to implement the package of measures to support the national economy amid the coronavirus pandemic, Chairman of the House of Representatives of Belarus’ National Assembly Vladimir Andreichenko said at the session of the House of Representatives on 5 May, BelTA has learned.

The speaker stressed that MPs have a special responsibility – to help solve economic problems in their constituencies. “We need to meet the main economic development targets regardless. MPs should get involved in the effort to implement the decree that suggests a set of measures to support economic sectors and entrepreneurs,” he said.

The coronavirus has changed the life of the society. “In view of this, MPs should focus on helping people, first of all, the elderly, the vulnerable, and people with disabilities,” Vladimir Andreichenko noted. “We also need to work with other categories of the population with due responsibility and care. People’s life and health is our number one priority,” he added.

Vladimir Andreichenko believes that it is necessary to continue running charity campaigns to support healthcare workers, medical interns and students. Thanks to their selflessness, the situation with the coronavirus in the country is under control. “However, we cannot let ourselves relax yet. Everyone who can contribute to the common cause should do this. Fighting the epidemic has essentially become the main area of joint activities of the government authorities and the public,” he said.
