Belarusian FM: Human rights dimension needs a reset

MINSK, 24 February (BelTA) – The human rights dimension needs a major reset, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov said as he addressed the high-level panel discussion of the 58th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva on 24 February, BelTA has learned.

“We are ready to support the UN’s initiatives aimed at ensuring sustainability and justice in international relations,” Maksim Ryzhenkov said. “But unless certain countries stop manipulating human rights issues, we will not come to a solution."

“Belarus calls for a major human rights reset in order to minimize the conflict potential of human rights issues, to take into account the diversity of political systems, development paths and cultural traditions and to introduce a ban on any hierarchy in human rights and double standards,” Maksim Ryzhenkov emphasized.
