Belarusfilm will rise to fame again after renovation, PM says

MINSK, 12 April (BelTA) – Thanks to the renovation, the national film studio Belarusfilm will be able to restore the good name of its brand, Belarusian Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich told reporters on 12 April, BelTA has learnt.

During the nationwide subbotnik on 12 April, Mikhail Myasnikovich and Vice Premiers helped renovate the facilities of the film studio. The construction of Belarusfilm’s new buildings is in line with the schedule. The major production facility was partly commissioned in 2013. The film production shop floors are to become operational in the summer of 2014. The film processing shop floor is to be upgraded. Students of the Belarusian State Academy of Arts majoring in directing will be able to practice here. The renovation is to be completed in the first quarter of 2015.

The President instructed the government and Mikhail Myasnikovich personally to supervise the construction works at the film studio. “Someone might get an impression that we have been dawdling here. We are going to advance this studio to a brand new level. The renovation is done step by step. As new facilities are built, the older ones are emptied and renovated,” the Premier noted.

Mikhail Myasnikovich underlined that Belarusfilm has already started producing pretty good films that earned a positive feedback at home and abroad. “The film studio will restore its fame it had during the Soviet times. The Belarusfilm brand will be associated with new interesting projects,” Mikhail Myasnikovich is convinced.

After the renovation, the film studio will be able to produce more films. The expenses on the renovation will pay back in five years. So far these expenses are estimated at Br400 billion.
