Belarus wants new projects with China

MINSK, 2 April (BelTA) – Belarus would like to implement new projects and ideas with China, Chairman of the House of Representatives of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko said as he met with Vice-Chairwoman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee Shen Yueyue in Minsk on 2 April, BelTA has learned.

Vladimir Andreichenko noted that the bilateral relations have always been built around trust and mutually beneficial cooperation and partnership. “We hope that the spirit of partnership will be preserved and cooperation will expand on the back of new projects and ideas,” he noted.

The Belarusian MPs hope that the ongoing visit of the Chinese delegation led by Vice-Chairwoman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee Shen Yueyue will help strengthen relations in all the areas. “We have one objective – to improve the wellbeing of people and promote the Belt and Road Initiative,” she noted.

Shen Yueyue emphasized that cooperation with Belarus is high on China’s agenda. “We are ready to keep promoting the Belt and Road Initiative for the benefit of the two peoples,” she said. The head of the Chinese delegation emphasized the importance of interparliamentary cooperation and the fulfillment of the agreements reached by the heads of state. She also suggested strengthening the legal framework of the bilateral cooperation and establishing a system to monitor the implementation of the agreements. According to Shen Yueyue, it is imperative to intensify contacts between Belarusian and Chinese MPs, because they can learn a lot from each other and exchange useful practices.

The parties noted that Belarus and China are closely following domestic developments of each other and are happy about each other’s political and economic successes. The Chinese parliamentary delegation will attend the opening of the spring session of the House of Representatives on 2 April.
