Belarus vows to work hard to develop Eurasian Economic Union as presiding country

MINSK, 25 October (BelTA) – During its presidency in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) Belarus will do its utmost to further develop the union, BelTA learned from Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Rumas during the session of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Moscow on 25 October.

Sergei Rumas noted: “Since it is the last session of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council this year, I would like to thank Armenia for a professional and responsible attitude to the matter of presidency in EAEU bodies. I would like to assure you that as Belarus picks up the baton next year, the country will treat the discharge of the functions it will take over with a full measure of responsibility and will do its best for the sake of further progressive development of the Eurasian Economic Union.”

According to the prime minister, there has been a thorough dialogue at the level of heads of government of the Eurasian Economic Union member states this year to discuss the most complicated issues sincerely and as specifically as possible.

The Belarusian head of government pointed out that international cooperation occupies a special place in the development of Eurasian integration. He mentioned today’s signing of the free trade agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and Serbia. In his opinion, this document represents a good example of how interaction should be built.
