Belarus views Venezuela president’s assassination attempt as barbaric act of terrorism

MINSK, 6 August (BelTA) – The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs named the Venezuela president’s assassination attempt a barbaric and appalling act of terrorism, BelTA learned from the ministry’s Facebook account.

“The assassination attempt on Venezuela President Nikolas Maduro on 4 August, which resulted in seven people being injured, is a barbaric and appalling act of terrorism. The use of such hideous methods in politics will never be tolerated by Belarus. We will never accept any manifestations of terrorism and violence,” the statement runs.

Only the people of Venezuela and only through peaceful dialogue within the legal framework and the Constitution can determine the ways to address complicated situations and methods to settle disagreements in the Venezuelan society, the ministry said.

“Belarus stands with Venezuela in this difficult moment. We wish prompt recovery to all the injured,” the statement says.
