Belarus-UK tax agreement undergoing interstate coordination

MINSK, 7 December (BelTA) – The tax agreement between Belarus and the UK is at the stage of interstate coordination, Belarus’ First Deputy Minister of Taxes and Duties Igor Klepcha said at the meeting of the House of Representatives on 7 December, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus has been continuously working to replace its national tax agreements concluded during the Soviet Union times. Today, we have 67 national tax agreements. The agreement with the UK is at the stage of interstate coordination. The agreements concluded with Hong Kong and Ecuador will enter into force on 1 January 2018,” the first deputy minister said.

In his words, Belarus still has four documents that date back to the Soviet Union times. These are the agreements with Denmark, France, the United States and Japan.

“As for the Russian Federation, it has concluded 80 national agreements of the kind so far,” Igor Klepcha said.

The House of Representatives also ratified the convention on removing double taxation in respect to income and capital taxes and preventing tax evasion between Belarus and Spain.
