MINSK, 26 March (BelTA) – Belarus will explore all the available possibilities in order to bring its citizens home, BelTA learned from a statement released by Anatoly Glaz, Head of the Information and Digital Diplomacy Office, Press Secretary of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The statement is available on the ministry’s website.

Anatoly Glaz said: “I can assure you that Belarusian citizens will continue receiving assistance with getting back home. We will do it within the framework of all the available possibilities. We will explore all the paths although fewer and fewer of them are available every day. Our interaction with foreign partners on these matters, including tight cooperation with the Russian side, also continues.”

The official specified that some 4,600 Belarusians have already received assistance with getting back to the home country. All the government agencies concerned and the national air carrier Belavia are taking part in this work.

“No doubt, the decision made by the Russian side yesterday will have a certain effect since the existing opportunities for flying Belarusians to Minsk, particularly from remote countries will be more limited. But we’ve repeatedly stated that the current situation is a common challenge after all. We have to act together and fight it together. This is why Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei talked to his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov over the phone today. As a result of the conversation the readiness to continue tight interaction between our ministries and diplomatic missions abroad in helping citizens of the two countries get back home was reaffirmed,” the press secretary said.

In his words, the Russian side assured that it will try to help all Russians and Belarusians in distress as it plans evacuation measures.
