Belarus still considering letting in foreigners without visas for sanatorium treatment

MINSK, 12 July (BelTA) – The possibility of letting foreigners enter Belarus without visas for sanatorium treatment is still under consideration, BelTA learned from Gennady Bolbatovsky, Director of the National Center for Recreation and Sanatorium Treatment of the Population, on 12 July.

“The possibility is under consideration. The relevant presidential decree is going through the adjustment and approval process. The item is still on the agenda,” said the official.

The official mentioned a heightened interest of foreigners in health improvement opportunities in Belarus. In January-June 2016 Belarusian sanatoriums welcomed over 95,000 foreigners, up from 79,000 guests in the same period of last year. The export of services rose by nearly 30%.

In the current conditions Belarusian sanatoriums are intent on diversifying the export of services and penetrating new markets. The efforts focus on utilizing the traditional natural and rehabilitation factors to offer the services that consumers need, including foreign ones. Virtually all the sanatoriums offer about 200 services. Premium-quality sanatoriums with their modern physical infrastructure and medical facilities are most popular among foreigners.
