Belarus, Serbia urged to step up cooperation in tourism

MINSK, 27 December (BelTA) - Belarus and Serbia have the necessary potential for more active development of cooperation in tourism, Serbian former Ambassador to Belarus Srecko Djukic said during the radio-link Belarus-Serbia organized by the First National Channel of the Belarusian Radio and Radio Belgrade, BelTA has learned.

Tourism was among the themes discussed during the radio-link. According to Srecko Djukic, this industry has a great potential. Since the launch of the five-day visa-free travel, the influx of tourists in Belarus has increased. “The Serbs must see how beautiful and clean Minsk is, how many attractions are here. There are many historical and natural monuments. I am sure that this will be interesting for the Serbs. In turn, Serbia has many things the Belarusians should see,” he noted.

According to Srecko Djukic, during his seven-year tenure as ambassador, he observed the development of Belarus. “Construction is in progress, cities are developing. The country is moving forward. May Belarus remain our political and economic partner,” the former ambassador said.

The Belarusian and Serbian peoples enjoy age-old deep historical and cultural affinities. “The Belarusian-Serbian political and economic dialogue, cultural exchanges will be growing more intense in the future,” the diplomat believes.

The meeting also discussed the decline in the Belarusian-Serbian trade. In this connection, Director of the Center for Problems of European Integration Yuri Shevtsov said that the decrease in the trade was due to the general global trends of economic slowdown.

For his part, chairman of the board of the society “Belarus-Serbia” Ivan Charota stressed the importance of cultural exchanges. He said that the Serbian language and culture are taught in Belarus. Interest of the Belarusian youth in Serbia, its history is great. Ivan Charota believes that Belarusian and Serbian peoples will continue to be fraternal peoples.
