Belarus-Russia Union State named example of integration in post-Soviet space

Belarus-Russia Union State named example of integration in post-Soviet space

MINSK, 2 April (BelTA) – The Belarus-Russia Union State has become an example of integration in the post-Soviet space, Deputy State Secretary of the Belarus-Russia Union State Vladimir Amarin told the media ahead of a function held in the Palace of the Republic on 2 April to mark the Day of the Unity between the Peoples of Belarus and Russia, BelTA has learned.

"The Union State has not lost its relevance. It was the first integration association, which in many ways set an example for the further development of integration formations in the post-Soviet space. Today, many projects, primarily in industry and agriculture, are first tried as part of the two-country union, and only then are implemented within the framework of other integration associations,” said Vladimir Amarin.

He stressed that this year the Day of Unity between the Peoples of Belarus and Russia is marking 20 years since the Belarus-Russia Union State Treaty was signed and also 75 years since Belarus was liberated from the Nazis. “This holiday symbolizes the spiritual unity and continuity of the ideas of the generations of our fraternal nations. We are historically bound by bonds of friendship, mutual understanding and cooperation,” added Vladimir Amarin.

“Today, the two countries prioritize economic integration in creating conditions for the development of small and medium-sized businesses, expanding industrial cooperation, increasing the output of high-tech and knowledge-intensive products.

The work of the Standing Committee of the Belarus-Russia Union State is aimed at all-round assistance to the Belarus-Russia integration cooperation in the interests of the two peoples,” the deputy state secretary of the Union State said.
