Belarus-Russia Forum of Regions to highlight legislation harmonization in social sector

MINSK, 5 June (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia will consider the harmonization of the legislation in the social sector at the 3rd Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia Valentina Matviyenko said in an interview to the RTR-Belarus TV channel, BelTA informs.

Valentina Matviyenko noted that the participants of the forum will focus their attention on the harmonization of the legislation of the two countries in the social sector. “First of all, we will discuss the ways to harmonize our legislation, synchronize it, consider what legislative and practical steps we need to take to enhance the living standards of our people and create equal conditions for them,” said the Chairperson of the Federation Council, adding that in the future Belarus and Russia can agree on unified social standards.

In her words, the countries develop cooperation to make life of their people better, enhance their wellbeing and social security. “Since we are building the Union State, we should create uniform social security conditions for our people to provide them will equal access to education and healthcare. We should secure civilized migration of the workforce and so on. Taking similar measures at the regional level is also important,” Valentina Matviyenko is confident.

The 3rd Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia will take place in Minsk on 7-8 June. Its goal is to expand the Belarusian-Russian regional cooperation and assistance in establishing direct contacts between regions, companies and organizations in the social, economic, scientific, educational, cultural, humanitarian and other areas.
