Belarus ready to take part in Khakassia’s priority projects

MOSCOW, 8 April (BelTA) – Belarus is ready to take part in Khakassia’s priority development projects and programs, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Vladimir Semashko said as he met with Head of the Republic of Khakassia Valentin Konovalov in Abakan on 8 April, BelTA learned from the press service of the embassy.

Vladimir Semashko is on a working visit to Khakassia on 8-10 April. The ambassador met with the head of this Russian region to suggest drafting a plan of action for 2019-2021 to implement the intergovernmental agreement on trade, economic, sci-tech, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, which was signed in 2017. Emphasizing the positive experience of cooperation of BelAZ with the mining companies of Khakassia, the diplomat stressed the readiness of Belarusian enterprises to meet Khakassia’s needs for modern cargo, road-building and municipal, grain and fodder machinery, equipment for the production and processing of agricultural products through various financing schemes. He said that Belarusian organizations are ready to participate as contractors in the design and construction of housing, social and cultural facilities, applying their experience in many Russian regions.

“Vladimir Semashko suggested preparing for Belarus information about the needs of Khakassia’s organizations in machinery and equipment. He invited Khakassia’s delegations to take part in the international exhibition Belagro 2019 (on 4-9 June) and the Belarusian Industrial Investment Forum 2019 (on 17-20 September). He stressed Belarus’ interest in the export of meat and dairy products to the region, in the interaction of farmers in livestock breeding, potato and grain cultivation, the exchange of farming processing technologies,” the diplomatic mission said.

The parties signed a protocol of a working meeting on cooperation between Belarus and Khakassia, and also a number of agreements. Among them was a dealer agreement between MTZ-Siberia Trading House and Karyernaya Tekhnika Komplekt on the sale of equipment and its technical support; a distribution agreement between Slutsk Lifting and Conveying Equipment Plant and Karyernaya Tekhnika Komplekt on the sale of manufactured products, warranty and after-sales service in Russia; a contract between MTZ-Siberia Trading House and Soyuz for the supply of 52 MTZ tractors.

The ambassador also visited a number of enterprises in the region and held talks with the management. The companies included Soyuz (the sale and maintenance of agricultural equipment); AutoKhakassia (the delivery of Zotye cars, produced at the Belarusian-British Unison, began last year); BelAZ technical support center, which meets all modern standards of service.

Khakassia is one of the oldest mining regions in eastern Russia. About 250 BelAZ trucks are used at its mines. In September 2018, the BelAZ technical support center (Krasnoyarsk-BelAZService) opened in Ust-Abakan District. In 2018, 38 Zotye cars were delivered to the region. In 2018, Belarus’ trade with Khakassia amounted to $55.5 million, up 45% compared with 2017. Belarusian exports reached $39.9 million (up 68.3%), imports $15.6 million (up 7.2%). The main exports include trucks, tires, plates, sheets, plastic film. Imports make up raw aluminum and coal.
