Belarus ready to open its embassy in Sudan

MINSK, 10 December (BelTA) - Belarus is ready to open its embassy in Sudan, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko told reporters after the talks with Sudan President Omar Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir on 10 December, BelTA informs.

“We have excellent political relations, and we welcome the opening of the Sudanese embassy in Belarus. At the same time, we are prepared for the similar steps on the territory of Sudan,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

In his words, the talks with the president of Sudan focused on many topics. “I can say that the talks were productive. The cooperation between our countries is developing, there has been serious progress in the past 18 months. Sudan remains an important and reliable partner for us,” the head of state stressed.

The sides discussed international and regional developments. The president stressed that Belarus and Sudan have similar approaches to the issues on the international agenda.

“Today we paid special attention to the trade and economic relations. We have analyzed the progress in the implementation of joint projects. On the whole, I am glad that the bilateral agreements are fulfilled. Belarusian and Sudanese agencies are doing their best to fulfill our plans,” Alexander Lukashenko added.
