MINSK, 16 July (BelTA) – I am sure that the forthcoming Belarusian-Russian highest-level meeting in St. Petersburg will be constructive and meaningful, Belarus Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei told the media, BelTA has learned.

“The meeting will take place tomorrow-the day after tomorrow. I think that it will be constructive because the group [Belarusian-Russian group] carried out preparatory work. It will be important to discuss the agreements that have been reached,” the minister said.

According to Vladimir Makei, the parties view some issues differently. “I think that during the meeting it will be possible to narrow these differences and work out a common understanding of what the process of further integration should look like,” the minister said.

As BelTA has reported, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko will pay a working visit to the Russian Federation on 17-18 July. Aleksandr Lukashenko and Russia President Vladimir Putin will attend the plenary meeting of the 6th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia in St. Petersburg on 18 July. The talks of the two heads of state have also been scheduled. Trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Russia will be in focus. The parties will also discuss interaction in the Union State. On 17 July, the presidents will have an informal meeting.
