Belarus-Iran cooperation praised

MINSK, 10 February (BelTA) – The Belarusian-Iranian cooperation has been steadily developing, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran to Belarus Mostafa Oveisi said at a function held on 9 February to mark Iran’s National Day, BelTA has learned.

Belarus’ Industry Minister Vitaly Vovk extended greetings to the Iranian people as they celebrate the 39th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution. He stressed that through joint efforts the two countries have considerably strengthened trade and economic cooperation and expressed confidence in great prospects for Belarusian-Iranian cooperation.

Mostafa Oveisi spoke about his country's achievements in socio and economic development and other areas over the years of independence. According to him, Belarus and Iran have been steadily developing bilateral cooperation. Over the 25 years of diplomatic relations, the bilateral relations were built on the basis of mutual trust and respect, and this process has a progressive tendency. “The countries’ great potential as well as friendship between the nations create a solid foundation for further development of contacts,” the diplomat said.

He emphasized an active exchange of visits, which help coordinate promising areas of interaction. The past year became crucial in the trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Iran, with mutual trade increasing significantly. The diplomat also stressed the importance of the recently held meeting of the trade and economic commission, during which agreements were reached to intensify ties in the areas of industry, pharmaceuticals, and medical equipment.
