Belarus hopes to strengthen relations of trust with Poland

MINSK, 22 March (BelTA) – The visit of Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs Witold Waszczykowski to Belarus will create good conditions for building relations of trust between the two countries, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said as he met with his Polish counterpart on 22 March, BelTA has learned.

That was the first visit of the Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs to Belarus in a bilateral format over the past eight years, Vladimir Makei pointed out. “We view the visit as a timely and important event that is likely to give a fresh impetus to the Belarusian-Polish cooperation in all fields,” the Belarusian diplomat said. He added that some aspects of bilateral relations and cooperation prospects were discussed during the one-on-one meeting.

He thanked the Polish side for the pragmatic approach to the lifting of the EU sanctions against Belarus. “We view your position as constructive, and hope that it will lead to a situation that will satisfy all countries,” the minister added.
