Belarus, Georgia urged to strengthen friendship

MINSK, 20 November (BelTA) – Belarus and Georgia should do everything to strengthen friendship between their peoples, Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze said as he met with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko on 20 November, BelTA has learned.

“We have a great momentum in bilateral relations. We, politicians, should do everything possible for strengthening friendship between our nations,” stressed Irakli Kobakhidze.

In his words, Belarus and Georgia have been developing constructive inter-parliamentary cooperation. The countries actively cooperate in the political sector. “We have excellent political and diplomatic relations, and also a strong friendship between our peoples. For us it is very important to have a close relationship between Georgia and the Republic of Belarus. We know that your personal contribution to this is huge, and we are grateful for all this,” the MP said.

Irakli Kobakhidze is in Belarus on an official visit on 20-22 November. He is scheduled to hold talks with top-ranking officials of the Council of the Republic and the House of Representatives, the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the National Bank.

The chairman of the Georgian Parliament is also set to visit the Hi-Tech Park, some industrial and agricultural enterprises, and to meet with the faculty and students of the Belarusian State University.
