Belarus’ foreign policy seen as responsible, peaceful

ASHGABAT, 30 March (BelTA) – Belarus pursues a responsible and peaceful foreign policy, Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow said at a ceremony to open the Belarusian embassy in Turkmenistan on 30 March, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus pursues a responsible and peaceful foreign policy. The country has been a consistent supporter of the stronger role of the United Nations, respect for international law, and development of effective mechanisms to promote partnership and cooperation,” said Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow.

This is why, according to the President of Turkmenistan, Belarus is highly respected in international organizations.

As for the bilateral cooperation, he noted that Belarus and Turkmenistan have been engaged in a constructive dialogue in various areas, including trade and economy, investment, humanitarian affairs, education, science, culture and sports. “This dialogue is based on profound and mutual respect, equality, mutual understanding of huge cooperation prospects. The embassies in Ashgabat and Minsk will always serve our main goal, which is to further strengthen friendship and mutual understanding between the two countries, develop mutually beneficial, effective and business partnership,” the head of state said.
