Belarus for expanding cooperation with international intergovernmental organizations

MINSK, 26 November (BelTA) - Belarus is aimed at further expansion of cooperation with established international intergovernmental organizations, spokesman for the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Mironchik told media on 26 November, BelTA informs.

“Belarus values the constructive contribution of the representations of international organizations to addressing the country’s priority issues in strengthening peace, national economy development, environmental protection, and ensuring the protection of human rights,” stressed Dmitry Mironchik.

In his words, Belarus Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei plans to meet with heads of the UN representations in Belarus on 30 November to mark United Nations Day. Among those invited to attend the meeting are heads of the representations of the UN organizations in Belarus and other international organizations, including the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the UN Department of Public Information (DPI), the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), World Bank (WB), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

According to Dmitry Mironchik, the meeting will summarize the results of cooperation in 2015 and discuss promising areas of joint work for the near and mid-term perspective.
