Belarus extends condolences over Mariupol shelling

MINSK, 26 January (BelTA) – It is with deep sorrow that Belarus learnt about another tragic event in Ukraine that led to civilian casualties following Mariupol shelling on 24 January, runs the statement of the Foreign Ministry of Belarus, BelTA has learned.

“We express the most sincere and deep condolences to the families of the victims,” the statement says. The Foreign Ministry of Belarus noted that despite common sense and the calls of the international community the situation in eastern Ukraine continues to escalate.

“There is a need for an immediate ceasefire measures. We support the intention of the trilateral contact group to hold as soon as possible the direct talks between the parties that signed the relevant documents in Minsk. We are ready to provide any assistance in the organization of such a meeting,” the Foreign Ministry of Belarus said.
