Belarus expects international counter-terrorism conference in Minsk to yield tangible results

MINSK, 3 September (BelTA) – Belarus expects that the international conference on countering terrorism in Minsk will give tangible results, BelTA learned from Permanent Representative of Belarus to the United Nations Valentin Rybakov.

He noted that combating terrorism is one of the top priorities for the world and the United Nations Organizations. “Belarus closely cooperates with the UN Counter-Terrorism Office and has established good relations with Under-Secretary-General of the UN Counter-Terrorism Office Vladimir Voronkov, which is very important to coordinate joint efforts in this area,” Valentin Rybakov said.

Belarus initiated holding this large-scale international event in Minsk hoping for a meaningful and constructive dialogue and tangible results. “We expect that the conference will be successful and will yield substantial results,” Valentin Rybakov noted.

He also pointed out that the international conference is one of a lot of events that take place in various countries and regions and are very important to coordinate efforts in taking tougher action against terrorism.
