MINSK, 25 November (BelTA) - Belarus has made progress in the economy in the past three to four years, Tony Bonnici, a representative of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), said at the parliamentary hearings “Public-private partnership: international experience and prospects for the Republic of Belarus,” BelTA has learned.
In particular, Tony Bonnici said: "We believe that in the last three to four years Belarus has made many improvements." He also commended the work of the Belarusian Economy Ministry.
Tony Bonnici drew attention to some positive points in the Belarusian draft law on PPP, which can be attributed to the best world practices, including the provision providing for recourse to international arbitration. It is important for investors, because without this clause it will be very difficult to attract investment. The provision on free conclusion of contracts and other provisions are also important.
However, according to Tony Bonnici, it is very important to ensure that the provisions of the law on PPP should prevail over other laws in case of conflict in the future.
