Belarus eager to advance diversified contacts with Japan

MINSK, 14 November (BelTA) – Belarus intends to advance diversified contacts with Japan. The relevant statement was made when Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich met with Shinji Kawasaka, head of the Asia-Pacific Economic and Environmental Research Society, on 14 November, BelTA has learned.

Mikhail Myasnikovich remarked that Belarus and Japan have a lot of joint projects, however, more should be done. “We should take care of economic and political contacts. Diversifying these ties is what matters,” said the head of the upper chamber of the Belarusian parliament.

Belarus eager to advance diversified contacts with JapanDuring the meeting Mikhail Myasnikovich suggested focusing attention on parliamentary cooperation as well as contacts between commercial entities. Apart from that, Mikhail Myasnikovich was interested in the opinion of the Japanese guest concerning what can contribute to faster promotion of economic projects of Belarus and Japan.

While in Belarus the Japanese delegation visited a number of mechanical engineering enterprises as well as enterprises that make radiation measurement equipment. The Japanese delegation has concrete projects to offer. The visit is expected to give a strong impetus to the advancement of Belarusian-Japanese relations, including economic ones.
