Belarus’ dedication to peace, global security noted

MINSK, 27 April (BelTA) – Belarus is dedicated to values of peace and global security and the fact is important for the country’s partners, BelTA learned from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ecuador to Belarus Carlos Larrea Davila.

The diplomat stressed: “In his address to the nation and the parliament Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko reaffirmed the absolute value of peace and security. The stance cannot but be a welcome one. Today Belarus’ role in the international scene is characterized by the country’s tangible contribution to the peaceful resolution of the situation in Ukraine, the advancement of strategic relations with Russia as part of the Union State [of Belarus and Russia], and the bolstering of political and economic ties with China and many other countries.”

According to the Ambassador, these factors create good prerequisites for active promotion of national and economic interests of Belarus and for the enhancement of its international contacts.

“The adoption of a modern military doctrine of a defensive nature and efforts to improve the potential of the Belarusian army also represent a considerable contribution of Belarus to the fight against terrorism in the global context,” added Carlos Larrea Davila.

The diplomat said he believes that Belarus’ participation in the Eurasian Economic Union, which is one of the largest common markets in the world, can become a catalyst of certain rapprochement with countries of Latin America and the Caribbean in the future, can become a “geopolitical window” that will allow Belarus to secure a new stance in the international scene.

The Eurasian Economic Union is capable of becoming a powerful actor of the global political and economic system of the 21st century. I believe that the establishment of tight ties between the Eurasian Economic Union and the integration processes going on in Latin America is necessary and has a lot of promise,” said the Ambassador.
