Belarus, China urged to balance import-export portfolio

MINSK, 11 April (BelTA) – Belarus and China should balance the import and export portfolio, BelTA learned from Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vladimir Ulakhovich during a Belarusian-Chinese business meeting in the House of Friendship, Minsk on 11 April.

According to the source, Belarus-China trade and economic cooperation is rather large and exceeds $3 billion. Vladimir Ulakhovich noted that Belarus-China cooperation advanced most vigorously in woodworking, dairy industry, and information technologies last year.

Cooperation within the framework of the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone is important. The number of resident companies in the park continues growing. The official added that the capacity for manufacturing Geely cars inside the park is being expanded as well. Apart from that, the construction of an Amkodor-Mash factory will begin in May.

Meanwhile, Vladimir Ulakhovich noted it is necessary to think about ways to balance the import and export portfolio of the two countries.

Vladimir Ulakhovich underlined the importance of the Belarusian-Chinese business meeting held on 11 April. A total of 25 representatives of various spheres of China, including banking, food industry, tourism, took part in the meeting. Belarus was represented by 172 participants from various branches of the economy.

In his speech during the business meeting Vladimir Ulakhovich stated that the Belarusian side sets a high value on the advancement of cooperation with China across the board. Last year the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry facilitated the organization of 62 business meetings with representatives of the People’s Republic of China.

The Chinese delegation during the business meeting was led by Chairman of China's Council for the Promoting South-South Cooperation (CPSSC) Lu Xinhua. He stressed strong interest in cooperation with Belarus. Lu Xinhua noted that the current level of Belarus-China relations is very high while interaction between the two countries advances vigorously partially because Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and China President Xi Jinping are friends. It is Belarusian-Chinese top-level agreements that make a good platform for trade and economic cooperation.

The CPSSC chairman drew attention to the operation of the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone. He was convinced that the largest companies from China, Europe, and America will be part of the park’s operation.
