MINSK, 2 September (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Cui Qiming stressed the importance of cultural relations and cultural exchange between Belarus and China as he attended the solemn opening ceremony of the Days of Chinese Culture in the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of Belarus on 2 September, BelTA has learned.

The ambassador stressed that Belarus-China cooperation in culture and tourism is gaining momentum. “We will soon celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the People's Republic of China and the Mid-Autumn Festival. Ahead of these events, I am happy to meet with my Belarusian friends, take part in the opening ceremony of the Days of Chinese Culture in Minsk, and together enjoy the famous classical Chinese opera Women Generals of the Yang Family,” Cui Qiming said. The opera was performed by talented artists from the China National Peking Opera Company.

According to Cui Qiming, friendship between the peoples of China and Belarus has become closer, the comprehensive strategic partnership has achieved a higher level thanks to personal attention and involvement of the leaders of the two countries. On behalf of the Chinese embassy in Belarus and the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Cui Qiming thanked representatives of various Belarusian agencies for their enormous contribution to the development of cooperation in all areas.

Belarus and China signed the agreement on cultural cooperation in November 1992, the agreement to set up the Belarus-China intergovernmental cooperation committee in September 2014, and the agreement to open cultural centers on a mutual basis in May 2015. In May 2017, the Belarusian Culture Ministry signed an agreement with China's State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television. One of the key areas of Belarus-China cooperation is arranging Belarusian and Chinese culture days. The countries hosted such events in 2011, 2012, 2015, and 2017.
