Belarus, China enjoy steadily developing cultural ties

MINSK, 21 December (BelTA) – The Belarusian-Chinese cultural ties have been steadily developing, Belarus’ Culture Minister Boris Svetlov said speaking at the opening of the Chinese culture center in Minsk on 21 December.

The minister said it is symbolic that the Chinese culture center was opened in the Year of Culture in Belarus. “It is a milestone on the way of further development of the Belarusian-Chinese ties, including cultural relations,” said Boris Svetlov.

“Cooperation with China is among Belarus’ priorities. The Belarusian-Chinese humanitarian ties have been steadily developing, supported by trustworthy relationship between our states, common principles of the domestic and foreign policy,” the ministry stressed.

In his words, the opening of cultural centers of the two countries, as it is envisaged by the intergovernmental agreement, will promote mutual understanding between the two peoples, further development of cultural cooperation, expansion of friendly relations and exchanges in the humanitarian sector.

In turn, Chairman of the Belarus-China Friendship Society Anatoly Tozik named the opening of the Chinese cultural center a milestone event. He stressed that in a month’s time Belarus and China will mark the 25th anniversary of the diplomatic relations. According to Anatoly Tozik, the development of political and economic cooperation between the two countries is impossible without the knowledge of each other's culture, customs and traditions. “If we learn more about each other’s culture, we will have our relations developing more actively,” he said. Anatoly Tozik added that the center will promote strengthening of comprehensive cooperation between Belarus and China.
