Belarus, China actively cooperate in book printing

MINSK, 23 January (BelTA) – Belarus and China work closely together in the area of book printing. Belarusian Information Minister Lilia Ananich made the statement during the soiree held in the Friendship House, Minsk to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Belarusian-Chinese diplomatic relations, BelTA has learned.

The Information Minister drew attention to the importance of advancing cooperation between Belarus and China in various spheres, including book printing. She reminded that the relevant legal base is available for promoting contacts in this field. In particular, an agreement was signed with the Information Office of the State Council of China in 2005. The agreement provides for implementing book-printing projects. The Information Minister noted that the Belarusian publishing house Zvyazda had published dozens of remarkable books, including translations of books by Chinese authors.

One of the latest projects includes a collection of memories of Belarusian ambassadors about Belarusian-Chinese relations. The project has been initiated by Anatoly Tozik, ex-ambassador of Belarus to China, head of the Confucius Institute for Chinese Studies of the Belarusian State University. Anatoly Tozik said that the book is a compilation of recollections of all the ambassadors of Belarus to China over the 25 years of diplomatic relations. The book tells the story of establishment of Belarusian-Chinese political, trade, economic, and humanitarian cooperation as well as China’s phenomenal accomplishments in various spheres and underscores the topicality of this country’s experience for Belarus.

Speaking during the event, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Cui Qiming said he believes that the implementation of joint projects in various fields allows honoring the agreements signed at the top level. He reminded that joint efforts within the framework of the Chinese initiative to build the Silk Road Economic Belt are particularly important for both sides. A lot of attention is attached to the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone in this project. The diplomat stressed that China intends to continue advancing cooperation with Belarus at the highest level.

Authors of the book, representatives of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the parliament, and public organizations took part in the soiree.
