Belarus among world’s best aerials sports schools

MINSK, 15 March (BelTA) - Belarusian aerials remains to be one of the world’s best sports schools, Belarus’ Sports and Tourism Minister Sergei Kovalchuk said during a ceremony to honor the national aerials team on 14 March, BelTA informs.

“The school has a good training system, great coaches and specialists who are able to train high-class athletes. Belarusian aerials remains to be one of the best sports schools in the world,” Sergei Kovalchuk said.

Head coach of the Belarusian national aerials team Nikolai Kozeko stressed that the foundation for successful performance in this sport was laid more than 20 years ago. “It gives me pleasure to acknowledge that the team has always found support from the Sports and Tourism Ministry, even at the start of the sport development when the prospects were still unclear. Today we have a well-developed base and are capable of training top-class athletes,” he said.

During the honoring ceremony at the Sports and Tourism Ministry Olympic champion Anna Guskova was awarded the ministry’s badge in recognition of high professionalism and excellent performance at the 23rd Winter Olympics in PyeongChang. The coaching staff and the team members were also hailed for the successful performance at the Olympics and the FIS Freestyle Junior World Ski Championships Aerials in Raubichi, Minsk on 24 February.

Belarus is among the world’s aerials leaders and has won medals at the last six Olympic Games.
