Bashar al-Assad thanks Belarus for warm welcome of Syrian children

MINSK, 1 February (BelTA) – Belarus’ Ambassador to Syria Alexander Ponomarev met with Syria President Bashar al-Assad on 1 February, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“Bashar al-Assad thanked the Belarusian side for hospitality and a warm welcome of a group of Syrian children in Belarus in winter within the framework of a long-term program of recreation and recuperation. He was also grateful for the support of Syria on the international arena,” the press release of the press service reads.

The sides discussed the current state of affairs and prospects of developing bilateral interaction on a wide range of issues, including in light of the forthcoming session of the Belarusian-Syrian joint commission for trade, economic and technical cooperation in Damascus.
