Avgustovsky: Belarus has chosen the right course for macroeconomic stabilization

MINSK, 10 November (BelTA) - Belarus has chosen the right course for achieving macroeconomic stabilization, head of the representation of the German economy in Belarus Vladimir Avgustinsky told a press conference held in Minsk on 10 November to mark the 8th Day of German Economy in Belarus which is due to take place on 12 November, BelTA informs.

Vladimir Avgustinsky stressed that in this difficult situation when the countries are facing various economic challenges, the experience of Germany and Belarus may be mutually useful. In his words, the Day of German Economy is the most important event held jointly by Germany and Belarus. “Germany needs partners in the area of innovations and economy, and Belarus is of big interest here,” stressed the head of the presentation of the German economy.

In his words, this year the Day of German Economy has focused its attention on industrial cooperation and collaboration in transport and logistics. “It is important to discuss the ways in which the economies of the two countries may complement each other. All the more that there is a favorable situation for a fresh start of the economic relations between the two countries,” Vladimir Avgustinsky said. In his view, Belarus has great advantages for German investors. The head of the mission believes that Belarus could serve as “a production and technological bridge for cooperation between the EEU and the EU".

This year the trade between Belarus and Germany decreased significantly, both import and export. The German side is concerned about it but the reasons are mainly rooted in the external environment. However, the participants expressed the hope that the 8th Day of German Economy will help overcome the crisis and take advantage of the existing opportunities to build up the Belarusian-German economic cooperation.

According to Deputy Ambassador of Germany to Belarus Holger Rapior, the Belarusian-German cooperation has a great potential, and it must be fulfilled.
