MINSK, 26 December (BelTA) - Belarus can again become a center of negotiations and contribute to peace in Ukraine, Apostolic Nuncio to the Republic of Belarus, Archbishop Ante Jozic said in an interview with the Belarusian STV TV channel on 25 December, BelTA has learned.

"This year we celebrated the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Vatican, the Holy See and Belarus. We are developing good relationship. The Vatican continues to promote this relationship through various projects. Belarus has always been receptive to our requests. As a representative of the Vatican, I can say that so far I have always found an open heart, help, support and mutual understanding in all areas," Ante Jozic said.

When asked about the joint projects of Belarus and the Vatican, the Apostolic Nuncio said that next year will mark the 25th anniversary of the coronation of the Budslau Icon of the Mother of God, which will also be an occasion for meetings and visits. Various cultural events will be held too.

The conversation turned to the Minsk agreements when Belarus hosted the Ukraine peace talks.  Ante Jozic believes that Belarus can host new peace negotiations. The Vatican is also ready to contribute to the establishment of peace in Ukraine, the Apostolic Nuncio emphasized. “I am sure that Minsk can become the center of negotiations again. I assume that such things are discussed at a high level. I want to emphasize that Belarus, the Vatican, and all those who want to become a platform should be open," Ante Jozic concluded.
