Andreichenko: Only Belarusians can restore order, maintain peace in Belarus

MINSK, 28 October (BelTA) – No one except Belarusians themselves will be able to restore order and preserve peace in the country, Chairman of the House of Representatives, the lower chamber of the Belarusian parliament, Vladimir Andreichenko said at the fourth session of the House of Representatives of the seventh convocation, BelTA has learned.

According to Vladimir Andreichenko, more and more Belarusians are joining the nationwide dialogue these days. “It is true, our meetings with voters are often quite emotional. However, you should not let your emotions get in the way. All participants in the dialogue need to learn to hear each other and find a common ground. After all, no one except Belarusians themselves will be able to set things right in our country, preserve civil peace and restore a normal way of life. At the same time, it is necessary to focus not on fictitious and artificial agenda imposed on our society, but on real problems concerning every citizen of Belarus. We must get through these economic and political issues together and with dignity,” Vladimir Andreichenko said.

At the same time, he deems it necessary to think about the future. “I would like to remind once again that not only special parliamentary commissions, but also all MPs need to participate in drawing the package of budgetary and tax bills for 2021. Developing the social and economic policy for the next five years is a very important task. Taking into consideration the developments that are shaking the world today, it is quite obvious that we will need to take a number of fundamentally new decisions. After all, the economic growth directly depends on our ability to utilize domestic resources, primarily intellectual potential,” the speaker noted.

Vladimir Andreichenko emphasized that the preparation of the social and economic development strategy and the dialogue to achieve social accord are closely linked. “It is because the welfare state principle is in the heart of everything, and we are going to stick to this principle no matter how hard they might challenge us. The analysis of proposals voiced at regional dialogue platforms is another testimony to the correctness of our position. Therefore, this discussion should involve as many citizens as possible, and above all those people who diligently fulfill their civic and professional duties, thus ensuring the economic sovereignty of our state,” he said.

The speaker is sure that it is important to hear the full spectrum of opinions. “Indeed, they are an objective representation of the problems, requests and expectations of the Belarusian society. Their detailed study will allow us to more clearly formulate the list of tasks that require special attention in constituencies and in our legislative activity,” he concluded.
