Andreichenko: Investments in culture always pay off in spades

VITEBSK, 3 January (BelTA) - Investments in culture return a hundredfold, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko said in an interview with BelTA.

"Culture is the image of any state. I have always believed that we must spare no effort or funds for culture as these investments return a hundredfold. The investments in culture will pay off in this or that area, which will ultimately bear well on the social and economic development of the country. The countries, where culture is on a high level, are overall well-developed states,” the Speaker said.

Vladimir Andreichenko stressed that Belarus attaches a lot of attention to the preservation of the historical and cultural heritage, traditions, national art. Over the past 20 years, many temples have been restored in Belarus. Museums have been reconstructed and other cultural institutions built not only in the capital city and regional centers but also in small towns. Mir Castle, Nesvizh Castle, the National Library of Belarus, the new Museum of the Great Patriotic War: all this helps raise younger generations, introduce to history and culture,” the Speaker noted.
