Amy Lin: Belarus keeps leading positions in ICT development in post-Soviet space

ASTANA, 14 November (BelTA) – Belarus is holding leading positions in the development of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in the former Soviet space, Huawei Senior Vice President Amy Lin told BelTA on the sidelines of Huawei Central Asian Innovation Day in Astana.

“Belarus' positions in ICT are constantly expanding. Huawei has been working in Minsk for more than 15 years and seeks close cooperation with Belarusian counterparts in implementing new technologies. We are bringing the accumulated global experience to the Belarusian market, developing the broadband network together with partners, encouraging the development of new technologies in the country,” said Amy Lin.

The representative of Huawei emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between Belarus and China. Amy Lin stressed that the company's main goals are to support research, cooperation with local operators in improving the quality of the data transmission network, and the expansion of high-speed Internet access.

There are plans to invest in the Belarusian economy as well. "For example, Bel Huawei Technologies was one of the first to register as a resident of the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone in early 2014. We would like to promote the development of small and medium-sized enterprises in the field of information and communication technologies. In Belarus we cooperate with leading operators, government bodies, ministries and departments, big commercial organizations in the field of telecommunications, infrastructure solutions and information technologies,” said Amy Lin.

Huawei Central Asian Innovation Day in Astana is entitled Explore the Way to Digital Silk Road. More than 150 industry experts, policymakers, scholars, and media from the Eurasian countries have gathered to discuss the prospects of ICT development, challenges and opportunities in digital transformation.

Representatives of the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation of the United States, the Regional Commonwealth in the field of Communications (RCC), and Chinese representatives are among those who have come to Astana to lay out their vision on further expansion of digital technologies.
