Ambassador: Imposing sweeping sanctions contradicts EAEU laws

MINSK, 8 June (BelTA) - Imposing sanctions on the whole country contradicts the laws of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Russian Ambassador to Belarus Alexander Surikov told the media as he commented on the recent milk dispute between the two countries on 8 June, BelTA informs.

“This is inconsistent with the laws of the Eurasian Economic Union or any other laws,” said Alexander Surikov.

The diplomat said that sanctions can be imposed on individual companies for violating manufacturing rules. “It cannot be done in respect of the whole country. A more well-thought approach is needed in such situations,” the ambassador added.
