MINSK, 16 January (BelTA) - Cuba hopes to bolster economic ties with Belarus, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Cuba to Belarus Juan Valdes Figueroa told the media after the ceremony to present the credentials to the Belarusian head of state on 16 January, BelTA has learned.

The diplomat noted that the long-standing traditionally friendly relations between Belarus and Cuba should be developed more actively. “There is a great potential for the development of ties in many economic areas. We need to harness these opportunities,” the Ambassador said.

Ambassador Juan Valdes Figueroa also touched upon the forthcoming visit of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko to Cuba: “The forthcoming visit is a major event. We hope that the summit talks will have a beneficial impact on the development of the Belarusian-Cuban relations.”
