Ambassador: Belarus-Korea relations gathering momentum recently

MINSK, 2 October (BelTA) – Belarus-Korea relations have gained momentum in recent years, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Belarus Kim Yong Ho said as he addressed the event dedicated to the National Foundation Day of Korea at the House of Friendship in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

The diplomat stressed the importance of exchanging visits that have become more active in all areas, including economy, science, parliamentary affairs. He noted the significance of the visit of a Belarusian delegation led by Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Dapkiunas to the Republic of Korea. The parties held a successful roundtable meeting where Belarus presented its economic and investment potential to Korean businessmen. The ambassador also stressed that the negotiations in Seoul resulted in important agreements on the further development of political dialogue, including by means of the exchange of high-level visits. The parties expressed mutual interest in enhancing cooperation in economy, science, high technologies.

Kim Yong Ho also touched upon the cooperation between the two countries in culture and talked about numerous events and presentations that are held by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Belarus and arouse great public interest. The Korean culture was particularly well presented to Minsk citizens and guests during the event at the Minsk Town Hall. According to the diplomat, such events help learn more about national features and traditions of a country.

Among the speakers at the event at the House of Friendship were representatives of the Belarusian Society of Friendship and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, the National Assembly of Belarus, and the Korea-Belarus Friendship Group. The event featured videos about the Republic of Korea and classical music pieces performed by artists of the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of Belarus and teachers of the Glebov Minsk children's music and art school No.10.
