Allied relations with Russia described as basic component of Belarus’ foreign policy

MINSK, 29 May (BelTA) – Allied relations with Russia represent a basic component of Belarus’ foreign policy. Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei made the statement after negotiations with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov on 29 May, BelTA has learned.

Vladimir Makei pointed out: “In conditions of today’s serious political and economic challenges Belarus and Russia should coordinate their efforts in the international scene. I would like to emphasize that allied relations with Russia represent a constant, a basic component of our foreign policy.”

This is why Vladimir Makei and Sergei Lavrov discussed joint approaches to key items on the international agenda. Matters of international and regional security were discussed, including the resolution of the situation in Ukraine’s east and in Syria.
