Abbas Khame Yar: Belarus’ role in maintaining peace and stability in the region is vitally important

TEHRAN, 20 October (BelTA) – The role of Belarus in maintaining peace and stability in the region is of vital importance, Vice President of the Islamic Culture and Communication Organization Abbas Khame Yar told BelTA.

He noted that among today's most urgent issues is the problem of protecting independence and sovereignty as some countries, considering themselves more powerful, try to impose their policies on others. Many countries have to defend their economic, political and cultural independence.

“Every country should respect others, not interfere with their affairs, keep to an independent policy and not follow the orders of so-called mighty nations. Peace is the main value for the people and it should be unceasingly cherished,” said the Iranian representative.

During his visit to the Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War, Mr Abbas Khame Yar saw what the Belarusian people had to go through to defend their independence and free development. “Today Belarus does its utmost to keep the peace and security, helping other countries in the matter through providing its platform for peaceful international talks,” he stressed.

“Iran also had a lot of problems in defending its right for peaceful and independent development,” Mr Abbas Khame Yar added.

Iran’s Islamic Culture and Communication Organization is engaged in the establishment of cultural contacts in the international arena. The organization has 83 representations in 63 countries, including in Belarus.
