Yuri Bashmet International Festival in Minsk draws record crowds

MINSK, 1 October (BelTA) - Concerts of the 10th Yuri Bashmet International Festival which is running in Minsk from 28 September to 9 October have been mostly sold out, BelTA learned from the organizer.

This is a distinctive feature of the festival, which offers magnificent programs, unusual projects and world-class artists every year. This year the organizers will tell about the achievements of the festival for the past ten years. It became a pioneer in many fields: Classics and Jazz, Classics and rock, Classics and Poetry and many other projects became real breakthroughs.

The gala opening featuring Yuri Bashmet’s production of Eugene Onegin was also a full house. The People's Artist of Russia made the production especially for the festival in Minsk. According to Yuri Bashmet, he interpreted the Eugene Onegin opera for those who were not interested in the classics before. This is one of the ways to introduce people to the world music masterpiece.

Another sell-out concert will take place on 3 October. It will be given by East-West Chamber Orchestra founded by Rostislav Krimer. The orchestra comprises best musicians from Russia, Belarus, the Baltic states, Germany, and other countries of Eastern and Western Europe. Many of them are solo performers, music professors, winners of prestigious international contests, and soloists of world-famous orchestras. This orchestra is unique both in terms of the professional level of its musicians and geographic representation.

East-West Chamber Orchestra will be officially presented to the Belarusian audience by legendary pianist Paul Badura-Skoda who has been performing together with Rostislav Krimer for several years. The program of the Evening of Vienna Classic features pieces by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and music presents from Vienna pianist Paul Badura-Skoda, the greatest interpreter of Mozart.

Yuri Bashmet Music Festival is a benchmark for quality and performance skills of musicians, composers, and memorable world premieres. Belarusian music aficionados get a chance to attend world-class concerts. The organizers of the festival noted that any of these concerts could be housed at the Berlin Philharmonic or the New York Philharmonic. This year, the organizers have introduced season tickets for regular visitors. As anticipated, this year’s edition of the festival has attracted unprecedented interest. It already outperforms the previous editions the Bashmet Festival in terms of ticket sales. The introduction of season tickets is a sign of gratitude to our regular visitors, the organizers of the festival noted.
