World youth festival guests in Sochi promised 3D tour of Belarusian castle

MINSK, 10 October (BelTA) – Guests of the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students (WFYS) in Sochi will be able to go on a 3D tour of Mir Castle, BelTA learned from Artem Ignatenko, Director General of the Republican Trade Unions Culture Palace, Chairman of the Youth Council of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus, on 10 October.

During the Belarusian national exhibition in Sochi the delegation of young trade union activists will present breadboard models of Belarus’ famous places of interest, including Mir Castle and Nesvizh Castle. “Everyone will be able to assemble miniature three-dimensional models with their own hands. Virtual reality goggles and specialized equipment will allow visitors to go on a 3D tour of Mir Castle,” said Artem Ignatenko.

Apart from that, the young trade union activists from Belarus will arrange a trivia quiz, during which young people from other countries will be able to check their knowledge about Belarus. Winners will get certificates for free tours of Mir Castle and Nesvizh Castle courtesy of the trade unions travel agency Belarusturist. Guests of the festival will also be able to get familiar with classic Belarusian poetry. They will be invited to read out the best of the classic Belarusian poetry, which has been transcribed using Latin alphabet specifically for the occasion. Guests will also be invited to sample traditional Belarusian herbal teas, honey, and confectionery.

The 19th World Festival of Youth and Students (WFYS) is scheduled for 14-22 October and is expected to become the largest event in the sphere of international youth interaction. Over 20,000 people from 150 countries are expected to attend the festival. A chamomile with petals of different colors has been chosen as the festival’s symbol. It represents the continuity of traditions, connections that span generations, peace and unity of the entire international community. Colored pixels play a major part as a token of unity of all the young people in the world in the age of information technologies. The festival is meant to consolidate young people of the world, encourage interethnic and intercultural cooperation.

Education Minister Igor Karpenko will lead the Belarusian delegation in Sochi. The delegation will comprise young workers and university students representing different public associations such as the Belarusian national youth union BRSM, the League of Youth Voluntary Service, the Belarusian Republican Scout Association, and the Belarusian Association of UNESCO Clubs. The delegation will include young Belarusians, who are workers and university students, all in all, 300 people. Reporters and athletes, participants and winners of artistic and intellectual contests will be among them as well. Sochi will also welcome veterans of the festival movement, those, who took part in the WFYS 1997 in Cuba and the WFYS 2005 in Venezuela.
