Winners of Listapad 2017 National Film Schools Competition announced

MINSK, 8 November (BelTA) - Winners of the National Film Schools Competition of the Minsk International Film Festival Listapad 2017 were announced on 7 November, BelTA learned from the press service of the festival.

The award for the best film went to Close Ties by Zofia Kowalewska, a representative of the Polish Film School in Lodz.

The Lake directed by Daria Blokhina (St. Petersburg State University of Cinema and Television) has been awarded the diploma for the touching story about people living in the harsh climatic conditions, preserving the spirit and joy of life.

In Another World directed by Anna Bedynska (the Marina Razbiezkhina and Mikhail Ugarov School of Documentary Film and Theater) received the diploma for artistic embodiment of the themes of moral choices and love as the most important meaning of life.

This year the interest in the contest was very high and application were many. The contest featured the works of 13 national film schools from Belarus, Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Germany, Belgium, Israel, Greece. Traditionally the jury examined 5 to 6 works. The Belarusian film school was represented by the movie May (directed by Aleksandr Komisarchuk) of the Belarusian State Academy of arts.

The 24th edition of the Minsk International Film Festival Listapad is running in the Belarusian capital from 3 to 10 November under the slogan Truth, Love, and Beauty. Listapad has been established by the Belarusian Culture Ministry and the Minsk City Hall in cooperation with the National TV and Radio Company, the National Film Studio Belarusfilm, and the Belarusian Union of Cinematographers. The festival is organized by the visual and performing arts center ART Corporation.
