Volozhinskie Gostintsy to become accessible for cyclists

Cycling tourism in Volozhin DistrictMINSK, 24 April (BelTA) – A cycle route along Volozhinskie Gostintsy will open in May 2014, BelTA learnt from Chairman of the Board of the Belarusian public organization Otdykh v Derevne Valerya Klitsunova.

The route will make up about 150km. Its starts at the Bogdanov station and goes through the whole Volozhin District up to the Radoshkovichi station. The creators of the route made their best to include the most interesting places of Volozhin District: ecomuseums, farmsteads, natural and historical landmarks. Tourists will be able to see the Roman-Catholic Church of the Annunciation to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Orthodox Church of Holy Unmercenaries Cosmas and Damian, the Khreptovich estate in the village of Vishnevo, one of the biggest military graves of WWI in the village of Desyatniki and many other places. A part of the route goes through the Nalibokskaya Pushcha.

Cycling tourism in Volozhin DistrictA special guidebook has been issued for travelers. The route has been marked for the convenience of its use. Summer houses and information stands have been installed along the route.

The first small marked part of the ring cycle route, 20km long, was opened in 2010 around the Martinova Gus farmstead. In 2013 the cycle route was extended to 150km thanks to the efforts of the owners of several farmsteads, representatives of the Belarusian public organization Otdykh v Derevne, the Minsk Cycle Society and the Volozhin District Executive Committee.
