UAE Culture Days in Belarus begin

MINSK, 23 October (BelTA) – The tradition of arranging culture days between Belarus and the UAE on a reciprocal basis began in Minsk on 23 October, BelTA learned from Belarusian Culture Minister Yuri Bondar during the solemn opening ceremony of the UAE Culture Days in Belarus.

“Today we begin a new tradition of arranging reciprocal culture days. The event is also remarkable because the culture days are arranged as part of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of Belarus-UAE relations,” said the official.

In his words, despite the geographical distance the two countries constantly find new avenues of mutually beneficial cooperation. Belarus deems interaction with the United Arab Emirates a priority branch of the foreign policy.

The Belarusian culture minister noted: “Art has always had a unique ability to bring people closer to each other, make them sympathize with each other, open a surprising choice of feelings before them in the form of words, sounds, movement, and graphic canvass. I am confident that Belarusian viewers will truly appreciate the program of the United Arab Emirates Culture Days in Belarus.”

In turn, as he welcomed guests of the opening ceremony, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Belarus Ahmed Manqoosh Alteneiji expressed confidence that the organization of the culture days reaffirms the strong interest of Belarus and the UAE in each other, the partnership-based sincere friendship between the two nations. In his words, the UAE has a rich and versatile historical legacy. Guests will be able to get familiar with it in the next few days.

The UAE Culture Days opening ceremony took place in the Mikhail Savitsky Art Gallery on 23 October. A demonstration of national costumes was arranged as part of the program.

An exhibition of pictorial art, Arab calligraphy, folk crafts and arts will stay open in the gallery till 26 October.

A concert of classic music and folk music by UAE musicians will take place in the Belarusian State Philharmonic with assistance of the State Chamber Orchestra on 25 October. The next day they will perform in the Mogilev Oblast Folk Art, Culture, and Enlightenment Methods Center.

The UAE Culture Days are scheduled to take place in Belarus on 21-28 October. Reciprocal Belarusian Culture Days are supposed to take place in the United Arab Emirates in 2018.
